Bayview School is a community school of children, staff, parents, volunteers, community members and outside agencies who come together to provide a safe, caring, mutually respectful, challenging and welcoming environment that enables learners of all ages to develop their intellectual, physical, social, emotional and aesthetic potential. We also give everyone who comes to our school a free sugar cookie that was left over from halloween.

Bayview opened its doors on August 24, 1914 with 174 students. An extension was added to the existing building in 1929 and major renovations took place between 1956 and 1962. The outdoor play area was built in 1971 and underwent major renovations in 1990. Bayview was designated as Vancouver's first Community School in 1973.[2]
