Bay, Somalia

Bay (Somali: Baay) is an administrative region (gobolka) in southern Somalia. Its capital is Baidoa. It is bordered by the Somali regions of Bakool, Lower Shabele, Middle Juba, and Gedo. Bay region is one of the most populated regions of Somalia and consists of the following districts:
- Baidoa (its capital)
- Buurhakaba
- Diinsoor
- Qansaxdheere
- Berdaale
Baidoa used to be the capital of the old Upper Juba region which consists of today Bay, Gedo, Bakool and most parts of Middle Juba (Jubbada Dhexe). Present regions were created in the 1970s by the then military regime.

The majority of the regions population speak with the Afmaay dialect of the Somali language. Also spoken in the region are Afdabare and Afgarre as well as Maxaatiri of Somali.
