bauMax is an Austrian hypermarket chain offering home improvement and do-it-yourself goods. It is based in Kindberg, Austria, and opened its first store in 1976.

In Czech Republic BauMax operates twenty three stores: two in Praha and Ostrava and one each in Kladno, Mladá Boleslav, České Budějovice, Tábor, Plzeň, Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem, Most, Chomutov, Liberec, Hradec Králové, Pardubice, Jihlava, Brno, Znojmo, Zlín, Olomouc, Přerov and Frýdek-Místek.
In Hungary operates fourteen stores: six in the capital Budapest and one each in Budaörs, Debrecen, Győr, Kecskemét, Nyíregyháza, Pécs, Szeged, Székesfehérvár and Sopron.[1]
In Slovakia operates eleven stores: three in the capital Bratislava, two in Košice and one each in Banská Bystrica, Martin, Nitra, Poprad, Prešov and Žilina.
In Croatia, Baumax has three stores, located in Zagreb, Varaždin and Osijek.
In Romania there are five stores, located in Braşov, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Sibiu and Târgu Mureş.
In 2008 Baumax opened its first store in Bulgaria, located in Plovdiv. Soon after a second store was opened in Stara Zagora.
