Bau Xi Gallery

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bau-Xi Gallery has 2 locations, Vancouver and Toronto. The Vancouver gallery began in 1965 and lead to a 'gallery row' on South Granville street. It's location is one of the few commercial gallery spaces designed from the ground-up to exhibit artwork. The Toronto location (since 1976) is located directly across the street from the Art Gallery of Ontario on Dundas Street West, in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Unlike the AGO, there is no admission charge to visit the friendly Bau-Xi Gallery.

The gallery typically features paintings, all of which are for sale, but offers several interesting sculptures as well. Most of the artists are Canadian with a few Americans. Monthly exhibits rotate through the galleries.

Established in 1965, the gallery is one of the most established in town. Pronounced boe-she, the gallery name translates to 'Great Gift'.
