[edit] Welcome!
I am highly surprised that so far nobody told you Thank you! or Welcome! So here I am telling both: Thank you for creating one of the requested articles. I hope you'll keep up with the great task. As you are doing just great on Wikipedia, I won't spam your talk page with bunch of links, so just simply Welcome! And stick around, we really need your help (maybe being a little too busy to say hello or thanks). Oh, and that monkey pic on your user page - you should working as a graphic designer for Pixar :) Renata3 19:20, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- Haha, thanks. ;) I did receive a welcome message, but I deleted it after a few weeks because, wll, nobody else's user page seemed to keep it around for long. I'll keep yours up to avoid confusion. Battle Ape 04:10, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Carcass.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Carcass.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 17:03, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Years in Australia
Thanks for the work you did on the early years in Australia. You said you got bored and confused. I can't help the former and I do sympathise. Perhaps the latter might be helped in part with a template I have put together at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board/18xx in Australia though it seems to me that you had a good handle on things. All the missing years can be seen as redlinks at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board/19xx in Australia - missing years. I am working on some of them now but it is slow work :-). There is also another project you might be interested in too at Portal:Australia/Anniversaries. Regards --A Y Arktos\talk 01:14, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- That will be helpful. The major reason I was getting confused though, was that it was difficult to find sources on the Internet about the very early years of settlement. Battle Ape 17:35, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

{{unblock|I am a legitimate user who happens to have the same IP adress (202.72.148.102) as a vandal. And for Christ's sake, this is the second time this has happened in a single day.}}
Removing this; the block on 202.72.148.102 has expired (it was only blocked for 3 hours). We apologize about the collateral damage; it's hard to control. See Wikipedia:Autoblock for the explanation of how and why this happens, and see Wikipedia:Advice_to_AOL_users (although I know you're not an AOL user) for some advice on how to avoid this (not sure if it'll work, but it doesn't hurt to try). There is a note on User talk:202.72.148.102 asking administrators to refrain from blocking for more than 15 minutes; the admin who blocked must not have been aware. [edit] License tagging for Image:Ff56.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ff56.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:05, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your edits - you will find someone is going to revert that info unless you either add citation or reference information ! SatuSuro 04:52, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
-
- Yeah - it is usually better to put it under the refered abc story article as External link so that another editor doing a quick review of the article can see that an attempt to get info has been done - there is a big push at the moment to get all articles with visible refs and sources - SatuSuro 05:04, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
-
- Very good point - usually a quick check of the geosciences australia database is enough to check with that (you would not believe what some vndls do to something as simple asbasic numbers in an article) or other online sources. Most shorter stub like articles are as important as the bigger ones when it comes to overall credibility of wikipedia - I am the last to cast stones in this area - I have heaps of articles to go back to and get a ref.... Wikipedia:Verifiability is the big push. Hey thanks for improving the bluff knoll article anyways - are you up to doing anything on toolbrunup ? [edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Animorphs4.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Animorphs4.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] HATRED OF FOX NEWS
Your hatred of Fox news shows an ignorance above comprehension. Fox has a national news channel as well as many local affiliates. Many of these local affiliate's coverage of the news can be described as "liberal" reporting despite the tag of Fox news being some mouthpiece for the Republican party. So just because something is reported on Fox news doesn't make it any less newsworthy than it being on MSNBC, NBC, ABC, or CBS. As a matter of fact, most of the other networks have actively supported democrat causes and by not pointing them out for doing so but pointing a finger at Fox is not only hypocritical but ridiculous. CBS has a false story about George W. Bush's military records in a desperate attempt to influence the election, some might say. Of course, they had an opposite effect when it blew up in their face. So how can one trust CBS over Fox in this matter? The BBC isn't clean either with its biased pro-palestinian/anti-Israel reporting. It is up to intelligent people to go through every article and be able to look for language that shows a bias. Example: The drudge report is biased on reporting news that would appeal to conservatives, but that doesn't mean the news is fake/unreliable. They are real news stories provided by many different outlets, liberal ones included.
There also is a difference between an "O'Reilly Factor" and a news report just as MSNBC's Keith Olbermann is hardly a guy you can trust any more than Bill O'Reilly. Just because one agrees with the politics of an individual it doesn't make them more right than someone else.
As soon as someone mentions Fox news as being fake, it really shows someone's political views rather than intelligence.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Samuel_youd.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Samuel_youd.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 21:27, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
