Talk:Battle of Les Espagnols sur Mer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The names used for this battle are completely confusing - The Oxford Illustrated History of the Royal Navy from 1995 uses "Les Espagnols sur Mer", and that's probably about as modern and authoritative as one can get for this. Eggenberger's Encyclopedia of Battles uses "Battle of Winchelsea". Google's few matches are somewhat inconclusive. There are probably still some red links wandering around for even more alternate titlings... Stan 02:39, 17 August 2005 (UTC)
In what sense was this the "first English sea battle" ?
