Why did Gryf and Wicher remained on the Baltic Sea? What was the reason that saved some ships with Operation Peking while condemnig others to suicidal Operations Worek and Rurka? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 02:38, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

First of all, Wicher and Gryf were slow (Wicher being also obsolete). They were not suitable for convoy escort role, which was what for the rest of the Polish fleet was withdrawn. Secondly, the Polish plan Rurka was a decent idea and Gryf was built specifically for that purpose - to lay mines close to the Polish shore. If it wasn't for Łomidze's panick...
