[edit] Religious freedom?

The repression of the extreme Covenanters in the Restoration period was actively carried out by the Scottish Privy Council, and had nothing at all to do with the 'English government.' While I am prepared to conceed that some may celebrate Drumclog as a 'victory for religious freedom', the Covenanters of the day were fighting for no such thing. Their aim was to deprive everyone else the right to worship in any way that did not correspond to their own purist aims. Rcpaterson 23:52, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
