[edit] Pyrrhic victory

Why is this being called a Pyrrhic victory for the Last Alliance? Yes, Oropher's command took very heavy losses, but they weren't a large proportion of the total forces. It seems to me this battle achieved its objectives with acceptable losses -- Sauron was ultimately unable to break the seige of Barad-dûr -- and is therefore a clear victory for the Alliance. [edit] Dead Commanders?

I am editing out the crosse next to Elendil, Gil-galad, and Sauron, because none of them died in this battle. They died twelve years later at the Last Combat. --Barnikel 13:31, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. Well spotted. Carcharoth 12:47, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Strength of Forces?

Where did 100,000 Elves and Numenoreans vs 500,000 orcs come from? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.124.49.158 (talk) 01:05, 6 May 2007 (UTC).
