Talk:Battle of Bywater

On a personal note, I think that it would have been great to include this scene in film 3,but seeing that this movie was almost 4 hours long as is , adding an additional 30-45 minutes would just make it too long. I know that only true LOTR junkies like myself would be reading this, or for that matter writing it, so you, like me will propably just go and buy the extended edition. P.S.

                       READ THE BOOKS!!!!!

[edit] Mixed settings

This article seems to confuse the Battle of Bywater with two smaller preliminary engagements. In the first confrontation, a small group (3-5?) of Ruffians was chased off by the returning heroes. In the second confrontation, the Ruffians return at night with reinforcements, totalling a dozen, and march into the center of a town where an older Hobbit was stationed at a bonfire. The Ruffian's leader was feeling bolder this time but was shot dead as he started his attack. The other Ruffians realized they were surrounded, silhoutted by the fire, and heavily outnumbered, so they surrendered.

The Battle of Bywater took place in the countyside on a road between two levee-like hills. I don't recall any Ruffian leader specified. So,

1) although one of the heroes (Merry?) did threaten a Ruffian leader in the first encounter, this leader died by someone else's arrow in the second encounter and was not present at the third encounter (the Battle of Bywater).

2) It was the second encounter that happened in a town center, not the Battle.
