[edit] The name should be changed

According to Livy and Plutarch in 209 BC there was a battle between Hannibal and Marcellus near Canusium, not at Asculum. Dobrin 15:29, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Redirection

I redirected this page to the page battle of Canusium. Hope that will not disturb anyone, for "battle of Asculum (209 BC)" was just a stub. Before that I sought advice from five users, listed as participants in the Classical warfare task force, but nobody paid attention, so I presumed there would be no objections to the redirection.

My reasons for redirecting this page: The primary sources (Plutarch, Livy) name Canusium, not Asculum, as the location of the battle between Hannibal and Marcellus. So do modern historians such as Brian Caven and Pedro Barceló. That's why I wrote an article, named "battle of Canusium". Dobrin 07:06, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
