Talk:Battery Park City

Comment related to the final statement: "Despite this, the area still has a long way to go before it will be fully restored to pre-attack levels."
This is entirely not true. In fact the residential population is higher than it was pre-attack, and the commercial continues to rise. Since September 11, 2001 2 new buildings were opened. The first was The Ritz Carlton Hotel and Residences (the first new business in Lower Manhattan) and the Solaire (the nation's first sustainably developed highrise). Also, two new parks have opened Teardrop Park and the Irish Hunger Memorial are two new green public open spaces. Currently there are three buildings under construction and two in design. It apppears to have bounced back and is far beyond its pre-attack levels.
[edit] Images
Hey. I have taken the liberty of removing the two images. Neither of them was actually about Battery Park City. Both were of sculptures in Battery Park, not Battery Park City. The next time I am down there, I will take photos in Battery Park City, or if anyone has some, or can take some, please beat me to it! ;-) Seidenstud 00:26, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Take a look at Battery Park (New York). That has an image that would be appropriate here. -Aude (talk contribs) 00:51, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Both images of the Hudson River waterfront taken from New Jersey are pre-WTC attack. Does anyone have an image from Jersey that is more recent that could be added? Digit LeBoid 16:09, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
As a resident of Battery Park City for over 16 years it is my impression that the area is more developed (and harder to find an affordable apartment in) than prior to September 11, 2001.
[edit] ethnicity
The people who live in battery park city are predominately what "race"? Are there any parks there? What is there to do in the community and so forth.
[edit] Greek Quarter reference
The reference to the Greek quarter in the 19th century is wrong, since the land that Battery Park City is built on did not exist until it was landfilled with the debris excavated in the building of the World Trade Center. The writer may be referring to the area near the BPC, and the site of the WTC. This graph should be moved to a more appropriate page.
