The Battle of Xincheng (新城之戰) was a total of two rebellions from 227 to 228 A.D. each led by Meng Da and co-ordinated with Zhuge Liang against Cao Wei during the Three Kingdoms period in China. Sima Yi settled Meng Da's rebellions in 228.
[edit] Battle
Zhuge Liang launched a campaign into Wei. Meng Da, was persuaded to return to the service of Shu; furthermore, he assisted in the campaign by striking at Luoyang. Meng Da was planning to coordinate his attacks and quickly destroy Wei, but he was taken by surprise as he didn't expected Sima Yi to attack the city of Xin without court approval. Also, Meng Da failed to take necessary precautions against the betrayal of Shen Dan, Shen Yi and other generals serving under Meng Da who reported the plan to Sima Yi just as he was gathering an army to meet the emperor. Zhuge Liang sent a small expeditionary force in his support, while Sun Quan also despatched an army from the south. Sima Yi quickly moved on Meng Da and easily crushed his rebellion before either of the allies could come to his aid.

The Battle of Xincheng appears in Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends as the Battle of Xin Castle. If the player is fast enough, Meng Da can be defeated and the victory can be obtained even before Shu reinforcements arrive.
