The Battle of Tienhaara was a part of Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union, troops on the Finnish side were commanded by Colonel Alpo Marttinen. After the fall of Viipuri on June 20, the Soviet Union started an offensive to open the way to Helsinki the heart of Finland, but they could not break through the Finnish defence and so it ended in a Finnish victory. However, Tienhaara (now Seleznevo) village was left to Soviet Union after Treaty of Paris in 1947.
