The Battle of Sabbath Day Point was fought on July 26, 1757 between French-Allied Indians and the British. Colonel John Parker’s New Jersey Regiment was traveling on Lake Champlain in a bateaux when they were attacked by a large group of French-Allied Indians in canoes. A pursuit ensued, resulting in the loss of approximately 75% of the New Jersey Regiment.
