The Battle of Ratisbon also called the Battle of Regensburg was fought from 19 April to 23 April in 1809 between France and Austria. The French were led by Baron de Coutaud, while the Austrians were led by Archduke Charles. The Austrians had to retreat. During the battle Napoleon himself was wounded by a bullet, which hit his ankle. The shot had been fired at great distance and did not severely hurt the Emperor, but caused a contusion.
