The Battle of Mon Calamari refers to two fictional battles in the Star Wars saga.
[edit] Clone Wars
The Battle of Mon Calamari took four months after the Battle of Geonosis. This battle is first shown in the Cartoon Network animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars.
The battle occurred when Count Dooku persuaded the Quarren Isolation League leader on Mon Calamari to side with the Separatists. Following the Quarren's alliance with the Confederacy, Jedi Master Kit Fisto led a strike team of aquatic clone troopers and Mon Calamari Knights in an underwater assualt on Mon Calamari.
After fierce battling, Kit Fisto engaged the Confederate commander Tikkes in a one on one duel. It appeared that Tikkes had the upper hand (he was piloting a Quarren Crab Canon), but lost at the hands of Fisto and his force-power waterballs. With Tikkes out of the battle, the Republic won.
Though Tikkes was pushed into a volcanic crater, Tikkes survived, due to his appearance in Episode 3.
[edit] Galactic Civil War
The other Battle of Mon Calamari was a battle in the Galactic Civil War 31 years later, when the Empire attacked the planet with World Devastators. In this battle, an airborne assault lead by commander Wedge Antilles. This battle is the final battle in Star Wars: Rogue Squadron video game for the Nintendo 64. Using a force of mainly V-Wings, Wedge Antilles was able to spot a weak spot on the World Devastators and destroy three, saving Mon Calamari, a large contributor to the New Rebublic.
In the Dark Empire comic series (upon which the level in the game was loosely based) the battle goes badly for the Republic until R2-D2, who had been supplied with the command codes for the World Devastators by Luke Skywalker (who had gone over to the cloned Emperor Palpatine's side), managed to shut down the WD's. The onboard crews could still operate the manufacturing lines however, and it took R2's directing the WD's at each other to save the planet.Template:Sw-stub
