The Battle of Lier was fought on August 2, 1814 between Sweden and the newly independent Norway as part of the Norwegian-Swedish War of 1814. It was the first major action of the war. The battle was a route of Swedish soldiers and a mere slaughter. Norwegian Jägers surrounded the Swedish forces retreating from Kongsvinger. In the battle that was fought, about 100 Swedish soldiers were killed. The battle resulted in a Norwegian victory, and forced Colonel Gahn to retreat.
