The Battle of Isly was fought on August 14, 1844 between France and Morocco. The French were led by Marshal Thomas Robert Bugeaud. They came after the leader of the Algerian resistance Abd el Kader after he found refuge in Morocco. The French were victorious. Bugeaud was made Duke of Isly for his victory.
