The Battle of Invercarron took place in 1650 during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.

After a winning streak of six successive victories in major battles during the Scottish Civil War, the royalist, James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose was defeated at the Battle of Philiphaugh in 1645. However he made several attempts to regain the upper hand but was unsuccessful.

The royalist forces which included the Clan Menzies and Clan Crichton under James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose were defeated by a covenater force under Colonel Alexander Strachan of the Clan Strachan at Invercarron. James Graham only escaped by means of a horse provided by the chief of Clan Crichton, who himself died of his wounds.

James Graham would make another attempt regain ground for the royalist cause which resulted in the Battle of Carbisdale in 1650 which was his final defeat.
