The Battle of Gloucester was a skirmish fought on 25 November 1777, during the Philadelphia campaign of the American Revolutionary War.
Having recovered from his wound at Brandywine, the Marquis de Lafayette led 300 Continental Army soldiers from General Nathanael Greene's division in a reconnaissance in force towards the British position at Gloucester, New Jersey, opposite Philadelphia. There he engaged a larger force of Hessians in Lord Cornwallis's army and got the better of them.
