Battle of Fredericksburg (Posleen Invasion)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Battle of Fredericksburg was a fictional battle described in the novel Gust Front, by John Ringo. One of the first of five Posleen globes landed in a circle around Fredericksburg. The humans never actually had any hope of winning the battle; they only had to stall the Posleen long enough to hide the women and children, and kill as many Posleen as posible. They did this by filling an underground, armored pumphouse with noncombatants, and trying to stall the Posleen advance with ad-hoc infantry from police and militia forces, combat engineering, and artillery from USS North Carolina. Then they filled a building near the pumphouse with propane and ignited it, killing many Posleen and almost all the defenders. The Posleen did not find the pumphouse because they did not bother to look closely at the center of the fuel-air explosion. The noncombatants were excavated on October 27, 2004.
