Battle of Fiodh an Atha

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Battle of Fiodh an Atha was fought in 1330 at what is now Finnea, County Westmeath, Ireland. The Annals of the Four Masters records that in that year an army was led by Ualgarg O'Rourke, King of Breifne to Fiodh-an-atha, whereupon the English of that town rose up against him. O'Rourke's army was defeated, and Art O'Rourke, heir to the chief lordship of Breifne, Rory MacGauran, and many others, were slain by the English.[1]
