The Battle of Daejeon was fought in 1950, between July 13 and July 20. It took place around the large and strategically crucial city of Daejeon, a week after outnumbered UN forces had been pushed back following the Battle of Osan. The 24th Infantry Division successfully held off North Korean forces over a number of days of heavy fighting, buying time for UN and South Korean forces to continue to retreat south.
