The Batin are a Malay people in Jambi province in the interior of the island of Sumatra, Indonesia.[citation needed]

There are approximately 72,000 Batin living in the interior of south-central Sumatra. They speak a language sometimes called "Batin", but more often "Suka Batin".[1]

The Batin are predominately Muslim, but have a matrilineal kinship system.
