MfD nomination of User:Basketball110
User:Basketball110, a page you created, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Basketball110 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Basketball110 during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Esskater11 01:32, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- You don't need to worry about the above message. A deletion discussion was started for your blanked userpage, but was removed since it was simply some minor confusion. So basically.. nothing is happening related to deletion or pages you've made. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. -- Ned Scott 03:35, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. Basketball110 (talk) 04:08, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Basketball110,
- I went ahead and reverted your post-close comments on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Basketball110, as the discussion is now closed and should be left alone as a record. However, if you want to delete your userpage (once again, there is no compelling reason to do this) or any future user-subpage, you can simply add {{db-userreq}} to the top of the page. This notifies administrators that you wish to have it deleted--in my experience, it's usually gone in a matter of minutes.
- Once again, though, there is absolutely no need to do this. Even if you do decide to ask for a userpage deletion, you are encouraged to create another one in the future. --jonny-mt 06:53, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

RE: Adoption
Hi there! Of course I'd be happy to adopt you. So, for starters, anything I can help with? Master of Puppets Care to share? 01:48, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- For images, you have to make sure that they are licensed in a manner that allows usage on Wikipedia; see this section for more details. In a nutshell, you can't use a copyrighted image unless you have hard proof (email, written letter) that the copyright owner has granted Wikipedia the use of the image. If the image you find specifically states it isn't copyrighted, or is copyrighted under a license that grants free reproduction/distribution, then you may use it on Wikipedia. Just be sure to state this on the Image page (again, see the above link).
- For your userpage, what do you mean by organizing? Something like putting all your userboxes in a box and such? Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 18:45, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- I whipped up a quick table for your userboxes. I'll add comments to show you how to use it, too. And I also did some cleanup work on the Tracy McGrady page; I'll post some things I think could be improved on the talk page, ok? Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 19:18, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. Your userpage may still look the same; however, if you edit it, you'll notice some comments. They are rendered invisible by the <!-- prefix and --> suffix. You can use this system on any page; for example, to leave a note to future editors telling them to check the talk page of an article before they change a disputed section. Master of Puppets Care to share? 19:26, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- There are various types of citations; for the general article on them, see WP:CITE. Creating a citation is easy; however, finding references to cite can be hard. Remember that MySpace, Facebook and all other social networking sites are not reliable sources, and may not be used to prove a subject's notability. Likewise, blogs are not reliable. When trying to cite something, go for a newspaper, online news, or any reputable source (i.e. CNN, Time magazine). If you have more specific questions I'd be happy to answer them. Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 02:37, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

- That should do the trick. Of course, you can insert a space to make it easier to tell that the links are different, change the color of certain parts, change the font... I'd suggest going for something that isn't too attention-grabbing, though its your choice to make. To make your new sig, just go to your Preferences (Special:Preferences) and follow the instructions there. Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 22:30, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

- Sorry, my internet cut out yesterday and I was dead tired from work so I went to sleep before I could answer all of my talk page questions.
- Now, references; I assume you've read up on what notable references are (eg. don't use Myspace or Facebook, etc.). Now, you have to find a template for citations; for example, {{citeweb}} (see all templates at Wikipedia:Citation templates). Then, just fill out the template according to the guide on it's page, place it on the end of a sentence, and you're good to go. To get the reference to show up, make a Reference header at the bottom of the article and put under it {{reflist}}.
- Oh, and also there is a proper way to cite; generally, do it at the end of punctuation, with no spaces between the citation and the punctation, like this.[cite]
- Hope that helps! Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 20:51, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Malformed FAC noms
Hi, Basetball110. In reviewing categories, I came across your two malformed submissions of articles to WP:FAC. You didn't follow the instructions for submitting an article to FAC, and the articles were never submitted correctly, although templates were left on the article talk pages at Talk:BMI and Talk:Dallas Mavericks. Also, more than one submission at a time is discouraged. I have put all the pieces in the right places, but I did not submit them to WP:FAC because neither of the two articles are close to featured status, and they wouldn't stand much of a chance. I suggest you consider peer review or good article instead. I will follow your talk page so you can answer here; I can help you remove the templates from those pages if you agree. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:45, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

- Done - look at the page again, you'll see a line of text at the bottom of the table that instructs you to place the copied code above that line. Simple mistake, easily done! Wiki can be complicated, it does my head in sometimes. Parrot of Doom (talk) 02:33, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Me'arah Sanaa O'Neal
A tag has been placed on Me'arah Sanaa O'Neal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kannie | talk 02:34, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
Me'arah Sanaa O'Neal
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Me'arah Sanaa O'Neal, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Me'arah Sanaa O'Neal. slakr\ talk / 02:46, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, in its current state there is nothing to make the article notable. Remember, notability isn't inherited; also, there are no citations or references, and there is next to no information in the article. All it says is that she is his daughter, and then presents a statement that is interesting, but is mainly WP:TRIVIA and doesn't add to the article.
- So anyway, sorry, but I think the article should be speedied. If his daughter does something notable in the future it may be recreated. Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 02:49, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to the project!
Hello, Basketball110/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikiproject Greater Manchester! Thank you for your generous offer to help contribute. I'm sure your input will be much appreciated. I hope you enjoy contributing here and being a Greater Manchester Project Wikipedian!
As a project we aim to have all our articles compliant with the various editing policies and guidelines. If you are contributing an article, it is good practice to ensure that it’s properly referenced with reliable sources, otherwise any contentious content may be removed by another editor. A good starting point for articles about settlements in Greater Manchester is the WP:UKCITIES guideline. If you have any questions, feel free to discuss anything on the project talk page, or to leave a message on my own talk page. Please remember to sign all your comments, and be bold with your ideas. Again, welcome, and happy editing! |

Adoption mk. II
So did you figure out why your computer didn't want to let you in? Usually I solve any problems with a cache reset, so that might help in the future. Now, as for that source; as the only source for that article it isn't very good. It also doesn't contain much information about the album, or it's reception. I did a Google search and couldn't find anything on the internet. As it stands, it'll probably get deleted due to lack of sources. Master of Puppets Care to share? 22:54, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- Strange about your computer acting up... anyway, here's the Wikipediholic userbox; {{User Wikipediholic}}. Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 01:53, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- I removed the trivia section from that article per WP:TRIVIA, as trivia sections are discouraged. However, in the future, if you'd like one reference to be the same as another, just type <ref name="Name">before a {{citeweb}} reference. For example; if <ref name="Basketball">{{citeweb|url=http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Master_of_Puppets&diff=cur|title=Master of Puppets' talk page}}</ref> is a reference, and I want to use that later in an article, I'd just have to write <ref name="Basketball">.</ref>. They'll show up as [1] in the text, and one will be 'a', the other 'b', in the reflist. Hope that helps, Master of Puppets Care to share? 19:36, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
-
-
- What are you interested in protecting? I'd suggest reading over the protection policy and seeing if any protection plan (I feel like I'm in the cellphone business or something) fits the article you're thinking about. If it does, go to requests for page protection and follow the directions on that page to get an admin to help. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 07:07, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- Ah. Well, if those requests pop up in the future, I'd say take the route of explaining the process to them; most people who haven't edited Wikipedia extensively have no experience with page protection and ask it for minor vandalism/problems; looking at the history of that page I can't see anything aside from the disputed images being added, but those were discussed on the talk page, so it seems to be good. And thanks, this is the signature type I've used a lot in the past. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 15:39, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

- I fixed it. What you needed was a {{reflist}} template to collect the references and display them. Also, that article needs some expansion, or at least reliable sources to prove notability. In this form it isn't very stable. That's just my advice, however. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 19:53, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Activity survey for members of WikiProject Companies
- placed on talk pages of all participants
I wanted to get a notion of the level of activity of people who are members of WikiProject Companies with respect to monitoring the WikiProject Talk page and participating in discussions of interest and/or responding to requests for input.
Could you please visit Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Companies/Member information#2008 Quarter 1 (Jan-Mar): Talk page monitoring survey and adding yourself to one or more of the several groupings listed?
Thanks for your assistance.

- The blue is automatic because Wikipedia interlinks are preset to be blue; it is bold because it directs to your userpage, which you're already on. - Caged cat; the problem was the text being a bit too big, so I made the tab bigger. Hope that helps, Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 05:14, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

- Also, I see that Earthbendingmaster gave you the colour codes. To use them, just put the Hex value (the six digits or letters) after a # sign. For example, #32da32. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 06:11, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I think that's just a browser problem, as I'm using Firefox and it looks good. Have you tried clearing your cache? That might help. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 23:01, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- WP:AIV is good; follow the format there, and for 'reason' I'd say "creating vandalism pages even though warned repeatedly" or something. However, wait to see if he does it again until reporting, as he may have stopped. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP!☺ 00:26, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
The Beatles' Newsletter
It was stopped quite awhile ago. A pity, but there you go. Maybe it could be restarted? Ask kingboyk ('cos he's the man to talk to). Great to know that you are interested, BTW. :) Have a look at this and make a comment. --andreasegde (talk) 18:47, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
salut!
I've nominated Steaua Bucharest article for FA, could you please check it out. Just enter the discussion page of the article, follow the link and leave a comment. Mario1987 (talk) 20:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello
Hello Basketballoneten. Looks like we have both been adopted by MoP. I like your user page. Though you might want to remove the edit link on each section, they are yelling out:"Click me click me". I almost could not resist.(oh well, haha). Earthbendingmaster 23:55, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Your welcome. Earthbendingmaster 00:10, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- There is. Would you like for me to give it a try. Though I might look better with it on. Perhaps you could compare? Earthbendingmaster 00:19, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Great idea. Thats sounds good. Earthbendingmaster 00:23, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- I would have to try a couple times. Should be easy. That is what you want? Earthbendingmaster 00:29, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Looks like MoP already changed it. Do you want a link to your user page? Earthbendingmaster 00:36, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- There is no link to your user page right now. Do you want one? Earthbendingmaster 00:39, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Really. Probably actually has other things to do on the internet then to edit wikipedia (haha). Earthbendingmaster 00:57, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! But I only made suggestions, did not actually change it. Earthbendingmaster 01:07, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:Barnstars
You can give anyone any amount of barnstars they deserve. // F9T 09:08, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Tiger
To do it, it would be much easier to get a book on tigers. I did this with lion and it made it much easier to reference. If you had a book, or when I find one, it will be a good time then. You thinking of going down to a library? cheers, Casliber (talk • contribs) 12:57, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes they are indeed short new articles. The thing is at least five smaller wikipedias have had these articles for over three years. These have beee missing too long. It is easier to establish the pages and then build the articles upon it afterwards. Have patience and in time these will develop even fully and images infoboxes will be added etc will be available. You have no idea actually how much could be written for each of these All the best ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 16:00, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I archive my talk page at the end of every month. Only 4-5 days to go ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 16:06, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: WP:Military History
You say on my talk page you did not place the speedy deletion template on that page. Which is correct: I did. What was the warning for? --Blanchardb-Me•MyEars•MyMouth-timed 18:10, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Well, I created the redirect by moving the page to its proper place, and, after placing the template on the talk page of the original author, I put a speedy deletion template on my own redirect.
Rivers of Romania
Thank you. There are actually close to ten thousand. How come you are interested in romanian river? Afil (talk) 23:29, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I also have romanian links, though I am in Virginia. If I can help in any way please let me know. Afil (talk) 23:32, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks again. Afil (talk) 23:35, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

If you mean the image to your right (which I uploaded), there you go. If you mean the template above, it my an adaptation of the welcome template on the Main Page (and can be seen here). Feel free to use either
Cleanup?
Purely out of interest, what makes you think HMS Newark (1695) requires cleanup? Cheers. Martocticvs (talk) 17:10, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ah - I see what you mean. They do actually link to where they're supposed to (I'm assuming that you hovered over 1741 proposals and saw that it said 1719 Establishment&edit) - it's because that particular link is using an anchor (1719 Establishment#1741 proposals) which doesn't show up until the article is created (something I have on my list of things to do, which is why I have been including links like that). Unless it was something else entirely hehe Martocticvs (talk) 17:16, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
