[edit] Welcome!

Hi, Basilwhite, Welcome to Wikipedia!

Thank you for your contributions, you seem to be off to a good start. Hopefully you will soon join the vast army of Wikipediholics! If you need help on how to title new articles see the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. For general questions goto Wikipedia:Help or the FAQ, if you can't find your answer there check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. If you have any more questions after that, feel free to ask me directly on my user talk page.

[edit] Additional tips

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

I know you've been editing for awhile, but didn't think you had gotten a welcome yet, so...Welcome :) Joe I 20:52, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Autobio

_ _ Hopefully you're already aware that WP autobiographical articles are held to especially high standards. I confined myself to very routine chgs to yours, but there may be some of that "merciless editing" coming up, from others who undertake judging notability and relevance more fluently than i -- perhaps even from comedy fans. But i suppose you're used to hecklers. [grin]
_ _ Let me add to your welcome, to what i hope will be a broader role as a colleague here.

Hey, I didn't start the wiki, but I'm gonna finish it! At least with WP I can add myself to the heckler chorus!!! :P

[edit] You helped choose Mark Twain as this week's WP:AID winner

Thank you for your support of the Article Improvement Drive.
This week Mark Twain was selected to be improved to featured article status.
Hope you can help.

[edit] U Memphis ubx

Just a heads up that fair use logos cannot be used in userboxes. Someone will probably change it soon. Don't feel picked on; it's just the rules. In the meantime, you should figure out an alternative. --NThurston 20:17, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Krep. Alternative, alternative.... Hmmm.. It's an image of the school logo. What to do? Basilwhite 20:22, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Take a look at the others listed on Wikipedia:Userboxes/Education/United States. Maybe it'll give you some ideas. --NThurston 21:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Ah so! Kluged a collegiate-looking M in U of M colors and uploaded it and released it to the public domain. Thanks! Basilwhite 03:44, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Charlie the Choo-Choo.jpg

Hello, Basilwhite. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Charlie the Choo-Choo.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Basilwhite. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 02:08, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus.
