A minor problem with the brewbox notes at the moment, is that this article also includes some discussion on the Bass Strong Ale as well as the India Pale Ale. For example Picasso's pictures mostly included bottles of the red diamond logo'd Strong Ale, rather than the red triangled Pale Ale. Oh, and would anyone care to add a description of how the beer tastes? -- Solipsist 22:38, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Heya, Solipsist. The beers in the brewbox list the 'active' beers, which are currently in production. As for the strong ale, I can find absolutely no record of Bass haveing ever produced one. If they did, it has peobebly been retired for a very long time. I did find a beer label collector, however, that has an undated Bass "red diamond"-labeled bottle that contained a "mild ale", but thet brew appears to have been retired as well. I'll keep looking, though. As for the taste of beers, we at the Beer project hope to get to individual beers eventually, but for now we're concentrating on the "low-hanging fruit": namely the breweries and beer styles, which are a bit of a mess at the moment. – ClockworkSoul 23:19, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I can quite believe that the strong ale is no longer brewed. You can find a metion of it and the red diamond in the 2nd para here. As the red diamond was the second trademark registered in the UK, there must be other references. -- Solipsist 03:29, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Google finds nothing but WikiMirrors (though I know it's real, as per the Coor's web site) – very odd. The UK Patent Office has a searchable trademark database, but it's down at the moment. – ClockworkSoul 03:45, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ownership

Hmm - InBev still list Bass on their press releases (box at foot). Coors Brewing Company don't list it on their product list. I think that we are going to have to be very explicit about what we are talking about on this page. Coors took over a number of the Bass brands - such as Worthington - but not all. • That's fine. I'm happy with setting it to InBev for now. At worst, it would be a little outdated. – ClockworkSoul 03:27, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

What is the basis for claiming, in the opening graph, that Bass is brewed by Coors? Bass is one of the Inbev brands; Coors is part of the Molson Coors Brewing Company group. I think this needs to be corrected. (As mentioned above, Coors themselves do not list Bass and one of their brands). Gep3 20:08, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Done in line with detail in article and Burton page Motmit 21:03, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

I doubt the article in its current state is correct. It is said "and still brewed in Burton by Marstons" but I currently have a bottle of Bass Pale Ale in front of me, and it is written "Brewed and bottled by InBev Belgium n.v/s.a., Industrielaan 21 Bd. Industriel, B-1070 Brussel/Bruxelles for BASS BEERS WORLDWIDE". The section entitled "Separation of beer and brewery" should also be clear about this. 82.240.22.190 (talk) 11:50, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Ownership is by Inbev as stated on the bottle, but they apparently use the production facilities at Burton. Article has been changed to reflect this. Seems unlikely to brew a traditional draught English ale in Belgium but perhaps someone from Burton can confirm. Motmit (talk) 12:26, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Shandy Bass

No mention of Shandy Bass] ? Danielsmith 09:34, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

So add it ... Noisy | Talk 09:45, May 6, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Move

I suggest a move of this to the more formal name "Bass Brewers Limited." Considering this is the company name (or subcompany name), it should be the article title. Due to the size of the article as well as the vast number of pages linking to it, I thought I should get some consensus, purely for logistical reasons, as well as to give you guys a heads-up.--Ljlego 22:19, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia

Has no one heard of the (hopefully unfounded) rumour that bass causes cancer? Dont know where it comes from but ive certainly heard it quite a bit in the UK. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.11.102.28 (talk) 11:41, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
