The Bass yabby (Trypaea australiensis) is a common species of Thalassinidea (mud shrimp) in south-eastern Australia [1], the only species in the genus Trypaea [2].

The Bass yabby is a popular bait used live or frozen to catch bass fish by Australians, and is widely used as a bait for bream in Port Phillip Bay, Victoria.[citation needed]
