Basoda is located at 23.85° N 77.93° E.[1] It has an average elevation of 399 metres (1309 feet).

As of 2001 India census,[2] Basoda had a population of 62,358 a/c to vinay arrora. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Basoda has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 59% of the males and 41% of females literate. 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

It is a Tehsil place of Vidisha District. As far as education is concerned,Primary School,Secondary School, Graduation & Post Graduation level of education is available. New generation prefers IT and Engineering Education. IT study is being provided by many institutions those have affiliations with Government Bodies. Navankur H.S.S. school, Ratan bai, Bharat mata convent are big schools of basoda. SGSPG College, LBS College,Subhadra ku. chauhan girls college are main colleges for Science, arts and commerce education.

Recently an agriculture college is also opened in Basoda, which brought this place on the map of India's agriculture education institution's map.

Udaypur shiv mandir: The large, red sandstone Neekantheswara Temple is an outstanding example of Parmara art and architecture of the 11th century AD. The temple is built in such a way that the first rays of the sun shine on the Siva-linga. It is a good example of Indo-Aryan architecture. The crowning beauty of this temple is its well proportioned and gracefully designed spire and delicately carved medallions adorning its sides. Built of fine red sandstone and standing on a lofty platform, the temple consists of a garba-griha (shrine room), a sabha mandap hall) and three pravesha mandaps (entrance porches).

Bijamandal, Sahi Masjid and Mahal, Sher Khan-ki-Masjid and Pisnari-ke-Mandir are some of the other monuments in Udaypur.


There are few good religious places here. Temples,Churches,Mosque and other sacred places. Shitla Mata temple, Baba Ramdeo temple, Noulakhi temple, Jain Mandir, Chetyalaya, One of the famous renouned FAKKAD BABA who visited this place and got enlighted at MANDI which is one of the famous grain selling and buying place, The SMADHI of this great saint exixt there.
