Based in the north Hampshire village of Old Basing, Basing Rovers FC is a football club that was founded in 1886 and for many years played in the Basingstoke League before joining the North Hants League.

[edit] Club History

The 1980's were a successful time for the club and this resulted in election to the Hampshire League Division 3 in 1985. Two successive promotions saw the club reach Division 1 and in 1988 the club had their finest hour when they finished Division 1 runners-up and won the Hampshire Intermediate Cup. The successful team then broke up and the club were relegated the following season. In 1996 Basing dropped down to Division 3 where they remained until financial problems forced them to withdraw from the competition in October 1999. The club continued in the Basingstoke League but folded altogether in 2000.

The club's home ground at the village Recreation Ground remains in use by several local sides and the village cricket club. The Basing Rovers name still operates in Youth football.
