Basin Harbor Club

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Basin Harbor Club is a club and guesthouse located in Vergennes, Vermont. The club’s first residence building was constructed in 1790 by Platt Rogers, who used it as an inn. The historical building stayed an inn and was run by his daughter after his death.

In 1882, construction started on what is to date the current buildings of the Basin Harbor Club. The inn was bought by Ardelia Beach, whose family has kept the club running over a hundred years later.

The current resort has three guesthouses and 77 private cottages on over 700 acres (2.8 km²) of land. The guesthouses include:

  • The Lodge
  • Harbor Homestead
  • Champlain House

The club serves as a concert site for the annual Vermont Mozart Festival.

The property includes a golf course with views of Lake Champlain. The surrounding natural wildlife will soon be part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
