Basha High School is a public high school located in Chandler, Arizona. It was founded in 2002 as the third high school in Chandler, AZ. The other three are Chandler High School, Hamilton High School and Perry High School. The school's principal Kristine Marchiando since its inception will retire June 20, 2008. The Chandler Unified School District school board accepted Ken James, current Mesa School District Executive Director of Educational Services, as the new principal to take the helm on July 1, 2008. Like Hamilton High School Basha High also has a Branch of the Chandler Public Library that is integrated with the school itself, while Perry High School has a county library on their campus. Basha High School was named after Eddie Basha Jr., who has made donations in the millions of dollars to the Chandler Unified School District and lives in the community. Basha High School is noted for its academics, and it offers a large catalog of Advanced Placement classes, as well as an National Honor Society chapter co-advised by Devon Christopher Adams and Erica Jensen. It also has a very notable speech and debate team that competes in National Forensic League events. Basha also has an outstanding cheer team with many wins under the belts. They have been Arizona's state champion team for the past two years in a row. The state title this year was won by them while also defeating their rival, the Hamilton Huskies.
