Baselland Transport AG

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baselland Transport AG (BLT) is one of the main public transport operators in the Canton of Basel, Switzerland. While Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe operates the majority of services in Basel itself, BLT operates 4 tram lines and 15 bus routes to the surrounding areas. The company also operates services on the Nightliner network in Basel. BLT tram line 10 is the longest international tram line in Europe, stretching some 26 kilometres between Rodersdorf and Dornach, the line crosses the border into France before re-entering Switzerland. The bus fleet is fairly modern, with the recent introduction of Mercedes-Benz Citaro vehicles. The tram fleet on the other hand is rather outdated, most units having been in service since the 1970s, although some were refurbished in 2001.
