Baseball (band)

Baseball are a self-managed and independent band from Melbourne, Australia. Baseball have been performing and recording as the following line-up since the beginning of 2005. Their approach is characterised by a DIY ethic.

Members:

  • Thick Passage who leads the band on violin and vocals. Also a member of bands: Ninetynine, and Sandro.
  • Monika Fikerle on bass, drums and voice. Also a member of bands: Love of Diagrams, Sea Scouts, Jihad Against America, The Bites, and The Grimm.
  • Evelyn Morris on drums, voice and bass. Also a member of bands: True Radical Miracle, and Pikelet.
  • Ben Butcher on guitar and voice. Also a member of bands: The Grimm, Assassinations Collective, Jihad Against America, Fibonacci, and Aardvark.

Baseball played at the Hohaiyan Rock Festival in Taipei in 2005. Other bands on the bill were Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Vincent Gallo, Auf Der Maur and Boom Boom Satellites. Baseball were the only self-managed and independent band who played at the festival. Since then Baseball have played with Saul Williams, Sleater-Kinney, NiHao! (Japan), Les Savy Fav, Art Brut, Birushanah (Japan), Ryokuchi (Japan), and Sabot.

Baseball toured Europe and Far East Asia in 2005, and Russia, the US, the UK, Scandinavia and continental Europe in June 2006. They again toured Europe in June/July 2007.

In 2005 they released a five song EP titled "Baseball, Taiwan – Japan Tour EP”.

In 2008 Baseball released their debut album, Animal Kingdom, on the Stomp label.
