Basangi

This is a small village located at Jiyyammavalasa Mandal in Vizianagaram District, a northern coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, India. This village is surrounded by the Nagavali River on the west , Vatigedda (small river) on the North west. It can be reached by the road connected to the Interstate Highway connecting Parvathipuram in Andhra Pradesh to Gunupur in Orissa. It has a population of more than 1500. It has an Upper primary school, which was started in 1926 by Sri Basangi Satyanarayana as a management school. It has a post office. Most of the people in the village are farmers and main crop is Paddy. The village is likely to be rehabilitated to another location as it falls under submergence of ongoing Thotapalli irrigation reservoir project.
