If you don't mind, I post this here because I have a feeling y'share a similar opinion; but for now, I hide this from the discussion of that article.

Yes. I take your word about the murky term "anime" -- and the ability to distinguish anime vs non-anime -- isn't so very clear cut. In fact, I've taken on the "What is anime?" question. After some Google searches and Anime News Network's archive, I find that the question been around since at least 2002, when suddenly we find non-Japanese animation starting to morph into something typical of Japanese animation. To be honest, I don't even like the title of the Anime-influenced animation article. Unfortunately, there exists who main facts that about article:
1. "Anime" (by nature of slang) is attached to Japanese. It simply turned out that way.
2. There exists the "die-hard" who would retain the notion that anime is Japanese-only.
3. Western animation began to emulate Japanese animation; hence the existence of that article.

Having spoken in a few topics over at Anime News Network, many are flatly appalled at the concept of "Western-developed anime". KyuuA4 (talk) 06:10, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

In all honestly, I don't listen to fansites like Anime News Network, because they're run by everyday people and aren't any more credible than a random person on the street. People on those sites accuse Totally Spies of ripping off anime, but never really back that up more than "art-style", but I always ask them which show the art reminds them of and they never reply back. The same applies with Teen Titans, and anyone can look at those two shows and see they don't look anything alike; so if they do "rip off anime" then why don't they look the same? Everytime I ask someone to elaborate what anime-style is they either don't or list things (such as big eyes) that originate or are unique from Japan animation. It's gotten to the point anyone will say anything looks like "anime" and I've yet to see people make a valid argument for it. - Baron Armadillo (talk) 20:42, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
