[edit] Reading Lolita in Tehran

Dear Barnetj, would you please help in editing this article? Azar Nafisi who is the writer of the book is now associated with US neoconservatives unfortunately. User:CltFn who is busy writing anti-Islamic pages, insists on advertizing Nafisi and ruining the face of Iranians by adding nonsense to the article. I won't be surprised if he/she is supported by a political party. Please help us defending Iran against these muslim haters. Please join us in writing a neutral article. Thanks in advance--Mitso Bel22:15, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

I would really like to help but unfortunately i have very little information on Azar Nafisi and the subject of the article, therefore i don't feel confident editing or getting involved in the article. not unless i find some time to investigate the matter. Thank you for asking though and i'll be glad to help whenever i can. Barnetj 15:53, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] References

Please use references each time in order to support each allegations. How are we supposed to know at the end which statement is supported by the US source you provided me? Satyagit

Fair enough. i tried to do that. i have specified references for each fact in detail now. Barnetj 15:53, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Persian Gulf

Actually, if you note the history of the article, "Arabian Gulf" has been italicized for quite awhile now. No one had a problem with that until Aucaman decided to bold it. SouthernComfort 05:01, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Khatamifamily.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Khatamifamily.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Khatami

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. HawkerTyphoon 11:56, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Have another look at it. The way it's worded makes it sound liek it's pushing a PoV! HawkerTyphoon 12:06, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your civil reply - I apolgise for being rude. I'll try and re-word it! HawkerTyphoon 12:20, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mohsen Sazegara

Hey, I noticed you had done some work on the article on Mohsen Sazegara. I stumbled across it and gave it a thorough rewrite, and was hoping you could take a look at the article. Iran is not my area of expertise, and I'm hoping to get some feedback on the work I did to the article. Thanks. Pepsi2786 11:10, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

It's me again. Could you take a look at the image (Image:Iran.Sazegara.jpg) you uploaded for Mohsen Sazegara and provide the necessary information concerning it's copyright status? I fear if you do not it may be deleted. Thanks. -- Pepsi2786 07:51, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Khatami

Are you on the payroll of the Islamic Republic?--Patchouli 12:43, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] POV issues on Khatami etc

Please see: User_talk:LittleDan#POV_pushing

I've filled an official complaint against User:Patchouli, to User:LittleDan who is an administrator investigating User:Patchouli's conduct on a range of articles. Your thoughts and comments there would be very much appreciated. --Patrick987 01:09, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I don't really know what I'm supposed to do about Patchouli. Much of what has to be done you can do: refer articles for deletion (I can show you how to do this if you need help) and revert his bad edits (you can find the old state of articles by examining history). I am an administrator, but I don't do much by way of blocks and bans. Since Patchouli has a named account and has been around for a while, some sort of due process through arbitration is allowed, I think. I posted something on the administor's noticeboard about it, but have not gotten any responses yet. I haven't had much time for Wikipedia, lately. Since you know more about this conflict that me, you'd be better at this all than me. Here are some useful links: WP:AFD to delete his pages, WP:RFM for mediation and WP:RFAR for arbitration. I'm sorry that I can't do more. But the thing that you shouldn't do is randomly contact adminstrators about this (I have been contacted this way, and it is really annoying and ineffective). Could you try to work through those channels? If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, but I can't do everything. LittleDantalk 20:44, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
PS, by the way, Patrick987 has not filed any sort of "official" complaint to me, because that doesn't exist. An "official complaint" is doing something through AfD, RfM, etc. Almost everything done against vandals can be done by anyone, short of the raw enforcement power that must be justified by a broad concensus. LittleDantalk 20:46, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Sure, I could comment in Arbitration. Just write me when you make a request. Sorry about the delay. LittleDantalk 17:15, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Salam

Please look at Iran on Uncyclopedia. The article was just a piece of "Fahhashi" on Iran. I tried to change it. If you compare the version before my edits with pages of other countries like Germany and France ... you will see that Iran's page is written in a very bad way. It is not humerous. It's just a place to insult. Please help. Unfortunately very few Iranians are active on wikipedia. Pages on Iran have been written by those who hate Iran. Please help if you have time. Thanks. Sinooher 17:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help please

Please help in the problem we are facing in this article. with User:patchouli. The user violated 3RR and I reported it. still he/she is POV pushing. thanks. Monfared 19:14, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi

I wrote an article on fundamentalism in Iran: History of fundamentalist Islam in Iran. Please help in writing this article if you have time in future. We need to write such articles ourselves otherwise non Iranians and anti Iranian wikipedians will write it in a biased way. Thanx. Sina Kardar 15:54, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User Patchouli

Have you taken your issue with Patchouli to ArbCom? If you are going to please inform me. He has unilaterally added POV to numerous article, and then re added them once someone removes them. An example of this is with the neologism "Mullahcracy". His POV pushing is highly deconstruction to Wikipedia. Agha Nader 17:12, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Agha Nader

A report has been filed against user Patchouli for his POV pushing. Please contribute at [1]

Do you think we should move the ANI to an RFC? I think that we need an admin to do something, but perhaps they consider the RFC a more appropriate venue. The Behnam 17:10, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Well, this ANI is currently a good place to gather the diffs that will be necessary to demonstrate the problem at any ArbCom, so if we do go to ArbCom, we will have quite a bit to work with for starts. But I am still concerned about that jkelly thing about RFC; I'm afraid we may not get anymore admin responses for the ANI. However, I think ArbCom may be a good direction since Patchouli is clearly unwilling to neutralize his contributions, so some sort of lasting intervention is called for. I'm going to start reading up on the ArbCom process. The Behnam 17:18, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Alright, I'll list you in our party when I begin the process. It seems we need a section showing our efforts to resolve this dispute. I think will probably link this to the talk page sections where we specifically tried to negotiate with Patchouli, so I'll definitely include the links you put on the ANI page. I'll look around for other pages. The main obstacle in this process is not lack of evidence but an overwhelming amount. If you see anything else I should note, put it in the ANI or on my talk page. Thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Behnam (talkcontribs) 17:46, 15 February 2007 (UTC).
Please come and write your idea about him. [2]--Sa.vakilian 04:38, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Strike on your inacceptable warning

I am, kindly, asking you here to strike on your illeagal and unauthorized warning in my personal user page. Otherwise I can use it againt you in reporting an offensive action and organized personal attack aginst me, thus it will be reported to admins as an abuse and clear threating. Please be civil and don't use my personal page to throw your warnings and threatings. You may do it as soon as possible by going to my personal page and strike-through unauthuroized text (Strike-through text) you wrote Ralhazzaa 10:27, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Ralhazzaa, you left a message on my talk page asking me to retract my warning[3]. There is nothing 'illegal' or 'unauthorized' (as you put it) about my warning. I have no prejudice against you as a person and I do not mean to 'threaten' you, rather my intention is to make sure that you are aware of wikipedia guidelines and that your activities is causing disruption. So please consider taking the warning as a friendly advice. Barnetj 11:00, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 300

Hello, I'ld like to explain why I'm removing your text on the Persians' garb in 300. There are undoubtedly many historical inaccuracies in the film, so to prevent this section from turning into a laundry list, we've been maintaining a policy of limiting it to assessments of the film by professional historians (along with the statement of the filmmaker). I have no doubt that your suggestions are true; the problem is that any number of other equally true observations could be made, and the article would end up being 100 kb long. If some professional historian has made this point in a published source, then that would be a different case, and of course I'ld support including it. If you feel this is an unfair criterion, please feel free to take it up on the talk page. Best, --Javits2000 12:34, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I myself would probably consider it "OR" in that context as well, but of course I'm just one editor, and there are a number of us who have been working fairly steadily on this article. If you think it's important I'ld suggest floating the idea on the talk page first to see what other people think. Best, --Javits2000 17:14, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Hajjarian_after_assassination.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Hajjarian_after_assassination.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 15:45, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hajjarian_assasinated.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hajjarian_assasinated.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 15:45, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Hajjarian_before_assassination.jpg

I have tagged Image:Hajjarian_before_assassination.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Rettetast 15:45, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Possibly unfree Image:Iran.Karbaschi.jpg

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Iran.Karbaschi.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. roozbeh 17:21, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Iran.Karbaschi.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Iran.Karbaschi.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:46, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Iran.Sazegara.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Iran.Sazegara.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Khatamifamily.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Khatamifamily.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:31, 10 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 11:31, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
