So what about when it was spelt - and presumably pronounced 'Balrachney' 'Balrauchney' - 'Barachnie' and a few other variations of it ? Which one do you choose ?
'Birchwood'- does this mean that someone in the marketing dept. of a house building company has been seconded and spent years researching the history of the area and discovered that there was onces a thicket of birch trees in the vicinty and has authoritively decided that the name of a few new houses should be 'Birchwood' ???
I think not, house builders like nice fancy marketable names for new developments. I thought everybody was aware of that.

[edit] Brachnnie
I was thinking of visiting Brachnnie one day, but I don't think much happens there now, not since they closed the Co. 60.240.73.57 (talk) 09:54, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Maybe I should visit Barlanark instead. 60.240.73.57 (talk) 09:56, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
