Talk:Barney Miller

I think the paragraph about a typical dialog between Barney and Harris that I added that was recently removed helps explain the show. But I'll leave it up to the uninvolved to decide whether it should be added back in.
[edit] Also known as?
Where and when was it also known by the long title mentioned in the first sentence? If it was re-branded with that name in some other country in repeat viewings, this should be specified more precisely - and in a later paragraph. I don't think it was called anything except "Barney Miller" in its original release. Moncrief 04:17, July 19, 2005 (UTC)
- I think you're right--it's a rebranding name. The IMDb lists it as Barney Miller, and they use the show's official titles. I personally never heard of that long name (which make the show sound incredibly boring). I think it should be removed or moved to another paragraph along with an explanation. — Frecklefoot | Talk 15:39, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

- I believe "The Life and Times of Barney Miller" was the title of the pilot, which aired on one of those "unsold pilot playhouse" shows of the 70s.

- Indeed it was, although it was actually called "The Life And Times of Captain Barney Miller". I've added info on it from various sources, including the Encyclopedia of Television.

[edit] Kudos
I think that more than any other similar article I've read on Wikipedia this reads as if written by one person. Great job wikipedians. WikiParker 23:46, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Theme Song -- Fleetwood Mac comparison?!
The current write-up compares the theme song from Barney Miller with the baseline at the beginning of "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac:
"A very similar sounding (if not identical) bass line can be heard at the beginning of the Fleetwood Mac song The Chain."
This is a song that I know well, and I was astounded to see the comparison. I've cued it up and have listened to it several times with high-performance headphones and the comparison is not worthy of a reference. I am not a bassist (though I am a musician) and do not have access to sheet music for the theme, but surely others will note upon listening that there is little resemblance to The Chain aside from a single three-note descent, not even in the same key as the theme. The reference should be deleted. -- Freemount, 17 October 2006
[edit] Ugh!
I really hate it when some US shows (like this one, Night Court and Unsolved Mysteries) don't get an "International brodcasters" section! It really annoys me! 77.97.245.149 15:51, 13 August 2007 (UTC)DanZie Boy

[edit] Six Million Dollar Man
If anyone can provide a source on the material I just added regarding the changing of the character name in Six Million Dollar Man, please feel free. For now, though, I'm confident in adding this because the two episodes cited provide verification of the change of character name. A reason for the name change isn't really needed - comparing the broadcast dates of the two episodes with the debut date of this series makes it self-evident. 68.146.41.232 (talk) 23:34, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
