[edit] Name question
If Bob retires or dies, would this and "Barker's Markers" change their names?--BigMac1212 16:17, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Since he is retiring next spring, I'm wondering the same. There are cases both ways: legacy vs. reality. If they did, I think they would just call them "Bargain Bar" and "Price Tags" or something like that. CrazyC83 04:01, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
For what it's worth, Barker's Bargain Bar is referred to on most of the show's paperwork as "The Bargain Game," so if its name gets changed, that's probably what it'll become.
If Barker's Marker$ gets changed, it'll probably become "Make Your Mark," which is what it was called the one time it was played on the Davidson version. -TPIRFanSteve 04:23, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah. I think this one should be "Bargain Game" (without the "the"). "Barker's Marker$ should probably not be called "Make Your Mark," because even though they used that on the Davidson version, it can be confused with Make Your Move. --Jnelson09 01:43, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Why should it be "Bargain Game" instead of "The Bargain Game," which is what it's been called backstage for its entire existence, anyway? (Not that I want either -- I'd prefer to see it stay "Barker's Bargain Bar.") -TPIRFanSteve 02:54, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- Well, it's not The Clock Game or The Race Game. On the other hand, when you put it like that... --Jnelson09 20:10, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] This game on the syndicated 1985-86 version
IIRC, this game was simply called the "Bargain Bar" on the 1985-86 Tom Kennedy syndicated version.
- The game itself is referred to by production simply as "The Bargain Game". IMO, that's the official title of the game. But I'm too lazy and don't care enough to change anything here. TheHYPO 21:39, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

- 1.) Regardless of what the staff calls the game backstage, the title they chose to give it on the air was "Barker's Bargain Bar."
-
- 2.) I have a list of all the games that were played on the Kennedy version. Barker's Bargain Bar is not one of them. -TPIRFanSteve 04:03, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not suggesting moving the page or removing any reference to Barker's Bargain Bar; I just see no reason to act like the title doesn't exist. CBS's official Price is Right page uses the title, and golden-road's game notes (a site you use often for citing) even notes this. I haven't seen the game lately. Does Barker actually ever say "You're going to play Barker's Bargain Bar"? TheHYPO 05:09, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
-
- Not generally, but he doesn't say the names of a lot of other games, either. Besides, it would be silly to have the sign up there for no reason -- it's not like the pricing games make a habit of using extraneous text, with the exception of the ridiculously detailed Credit Card prop.
-
- And I write Golden-Road.net's FAQ. The title "The Bargain Game" is noted there in the Barker's Bargain Bar section because of an earlier discussion on the site's forums that asked the same question that is being asked here. I phrased it the way I did after being assured that the game's official name is Barker's Bargain Bar. -TPIRFanSteve 02:57, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

- ...Actually, I apparently don't know what's in my FAQ as well as I think I do -- I'd forgotten that I'd edited that description a few months ago and shortened it considerably. In the wake of the original discussion, I'd written up a paragraph stating that while most of the show's paperwork called it "The Bargain Game", its official title was the one that appeared on the sign. After a while, I decided that most of the explanation was a relic of a months-old discussion that most people had probably forgotten about, so I changed it to what it says now. -TPIRFanSteve 03:24, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
