[edit] Discussion re Bardia Mural, prior to merging in the bio of its artist John Frederick Brill

I was part way through editing the page when the Wiki Police descended

More context was being added during the time the comment was made. I was also trying to create an Infobox Mural template, quite hard for someone new to Wiki

Please assist rather than simply point out the obvious weaknesses.

And yes I have been spending time reading the Wiki expectations

Hopefully the page is now closer to the exacting Wiki standards jws42—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jws42 (talkcontribs) 12:01, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

No need to be defensive. And I'm not the "wiki police". Tags shouldn't be taken as an attack, that's not how I meant it. Just pointing out what needs to be added for someone who is more familiar with the subject to fill in the blanks for those of us who wouldn't immediately know. Dismas|(talk) 12:36, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Members only

_ _ Moved from article:

* Bardia Mural remembered on this members only forum

Lk took me to something from Dogpile with random UK-military-matters blog entries. If it isn't useful to non-members, which seems the case, it doesn't belong in WP.
_ _ (Oh, yes, i guess that means i *am* the Wiki-Police today; you can be tomorrow, unless you want to start right now.)

[edit] Talk regarding separate bio of John Frederick Brill, prior to its merge into Bardia Mural article

Articles for deletion This article was nominated for deletion on 2006-12-25. The result of the discussion was keep.

Want to challenge the deletion, just don't know how! Have asked the proposer on their talk page... why —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.152.47.247 (talk • contribs) (20:59, 2 June 2006) (UTC)

The following 8 chars were an unsuitable attempt to ask for help, as part of the 20:59, 2 June 2006 edit, above by IP 82...; i have converted it into text instead of letting the template be expanded, to avoid further confusion. --Jerzyt 13:23, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
{{help}}
I haven't paid attention to what deletion was referred to, but that was months before the AfD noted above, and thus presumably about removal of some content from the continuing article.

[edit] Place of birth - Nationality - Occupation

Was Brill English? Where was he born? What army did he serve in? The article doesn't exactly say what army he belonged to, just his regiment.

I also tried to add to the introduction by putting in what he is, I guess, known for. Please correct this if I was mistaken. Was he a regular army man or was he drafted? If he was drafted, what did he do before the war?

Right now the article seems to be a bit more about the battle than the man, so I'm just asking these questions both for knowledge's sake and for suggestions for the article. Dismas|(talk) 08:38, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Better now? Jws42 17:18, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

PoB still unknown Nationality British for sure, English likely but not yet verifiable Occupation Artist & Infantry man

I like the additional information.
I moved the images around because the letters were so large that they created a lot of white space. Then when the white space was removed they were sort of crowded around at the bottom of the article with the text sort of snaking around them. I think the gallery makes the layout a bit cleaner. Agree? Dismas|(talk) 08:25, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion of Merged article cover both John Frederick Brill and Bardia Mural

[edit] Merge

Discussion re the AfD on Brill's bio led to the unchallenged agreement between two of us to merge it into the Mural article, and see whether it looked like a keeper. I'm starting that process with this merge of the talk pages.
--Jerzyt 19:14, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Personally, I think the artists story is different from the paintings story. The article about the artist is interesting because of his military service and the theme of the mural. The mural itself is interesting for its artist and for its endangered and declining state. I think separate articles are merited. TonyTheTiger 22:03, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
It looks to me like the mural warrants a separate article from the artist. --sparkitTALK 15:32, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
