[edit] Demo
A playable public demo was offered by battlefront.com. The demo did not include access to the mission editor, but did permit solo, hotseat, email or TCP/IP play of two pre-made scenarios.
[edit] Yelnyia Stare
This scenario featured a large Russian infantry force fighting a dug-in German infantry force in the autumn of 1941.
[edit] Demo scenario two
This scenario featured German armor attacking over open steppe in the autumn of 1943.
[edit] Controversy
In order to conform to German law, depictions of the swastika were removed from in game graphics depicting the German national flag of the era. Additionally, all Waffen SS units were renamed "Waffen Grenadier".
[edit] Special Edition
A special edition was released with a "bonus disc" which included graphic mods and additional scenarios collected from designers within the CM community.
[edit] Combat Mission: Campaign
A final version of CM:BB will be included in the Combat Mission: Campaign game announced by battlefront.com. CM:C is an operational-level game intended to interface with CM:BB; a new version of the latter will be released with CM:C and contain changes in the code to allow the two to interface. Combat Mission: Campaign will allow one or two players to control formation-sized units on strategic maps of several hundred square kilometres; their actions will result in smaller tactical battles to be fought out on 4-km square battlefields, either through auto-resolution or by playing them in CM:BB.
