[edit] History
Barwell F.C. was formed at the start of the 1992–93 season as the result of a merger between Hinckley F.C. of the Midland Football Combination and Barwell Athletic F.C., who had previously played in the Leicestershire Senior League.[2][3] The new club initially played in the Midland Football Combination before becoming founder member of the Midland Football Alliance in 1994, where they play to this day.[1] In 2006 Barwell won the Midland Football Alliance League Cup beating Leamington 3–1.
[edit] Club records
- Best league performance: Midland Football Alliance, 3rd, 2000/01[1]
- Best FA Cup performance: 2nd qualifying round, 2000/01 and 2001/02[1]
- Best FA Vase performance: 5th round, 1995/96[1]
[edit] Ground
The Kirkby Road sports complex also incorporates bowling facilities and a cricket pitch, which was once used for first class matches. Floodlights were installed prior to the 1992/93 season, and a number of seats were obtained from the old main stand at Leicester City's ground. A new covered stand to accommodate five hundred spectators was built prior to the 1996/97 season. Towards the end of the 2000/01 season a new 256 seater cantilever stand was erected, and the club hope that further planned improvements will allow them to eventually step up to the Southern League.
