Barver is in the north of the "Naturpark Dümmer" and "Naturpark Rehdener Geestmoor" and south of the "Naturpark Wildeshauser Geest", circa in the middle between Bremen (north) and Osnabrück (south-west). The village is east of the Kellenberg and on the west bank of the Wagenfelder Aue, a south-eastern tributary of the Hunte.
