Air Marshal Sir Barry Michael Thornton, KCB, MSc, BSc, CEng, FIMechE, FCMI, FRAeS, RAF is a senior commander in the Royal Air Force.
Thornton was the last Commander in Chief Personnel and Training Command from 6 January 2006 until 1 April 2007, when the command was merged into Air Command.
On 1 April 2007 Thornton ceased to be the Air Member for Personnel, but he retained a place on the Air Force Board as he was appointed the first Air Member for Materiel. His new appointment also saw him take up the post of Chief of Defence Material (Air) at the Defence Equipment & Support organisation.[1]
