Barry Leonard Pashak (born: ) was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Canada, from 1986 to 1993.

[edit] Provincial politics

Pashak first ran for the Alberta New Democratic Party in 1971 in Calgary North Hill. In 1986 he won Calgary Forest Lawn with the help of heavy vote splitting. He was defeated in 1993 when, after his riding was abolished, he ran in Calgary East against Moe Amery, whom he had defeated twice previously.

Following his electoral defeat in 1993, Pashak left the Alberta New Democratic Party. In 2000, he became leader of the Equity Party. The party stagnated and failed to run any candidates in the 2001 General Election. Pashak stepped down as leader in 2001.

[edit] Federal politics

Pashak has been a perennial candidate in federal elections. He ran for the Canadian House of Commons as a New Democratic Party candidate in the 1972 federal election but was defeated by Eldon Woolliams. He ran in Calgary East in the 1979 1980 and 1984 federal elections being easily defeated by John Kushner and Alex Kindy respectively.
