Barry Murphy (swimmer)

Barry Murphy (born October 5, 1985) is an Irish swimmer from Dublin. He is a member of CRC Swimming Club but currently trains at the University of Tennessee.

At the recent Irish Open SC Championships, Murphy broke the Irish 100m Freestyle record in a time of 48.97 and also the 100m IM record in a time of 55.88. One week later in the European Championships in Budapest he broke both the 50m Freestyle record in a time of 22.63, and also Earl McCarthys 10 year old record in 100m Freestyle in a time of 50.79.
He also holds a number of Irish junior records including 50m Breaststroke. He loves it.

He broke the Irish Senior Record for the 50m Breastroke in a time of 28.37 which qualified him for the semi-finals, where he finished 16th.
