Barrington Stoke

Barrington Stoke[1] is a children's publisher based in Edinburgh, UK.
The company was founded in 1997. It publishes fiction and non-fiction adapted to a reading age of 8 for reluctant, underconfident and dyslexic readers aged 9-16.
Manuscripts are adapted to a reading age of 8 in consultation with children who are reluctant readers. The books are printed on cream paper, which can make reading easier for dyslexics[2], and use a specially adapted font and layout, with the aim of increasing readability.

Barrington Stoke publishes well known children's authors such as Michael Morpurgo, Terry Deary, Robert Swindells, Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore, Diana Wynne Jones and Elizabeth Kay. Some authors better known for writing for adults also write for Barrington Stoke, including James Lovegrove, Eric Brown and Gwyneth Jones writing as Ann Halam.
