From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Barrington is a village and civil parish in the South Cambridgeshire district of Cambridgeshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 904. The village is about ten miles south-west of Cambridge, between Haslingfield and Shepreth.
The village green covers 30 acres, is more than half a mile long and supposedly the longest in England[citation needed]. All Saints church is 13th and 14th century. Barrington Hall was once the seat of the Bendyshe family, but has more recently been used as offices. Apparently there is a nuclear bunker under the village green also, located in the western corner. At the northern end of the village is the Cemex cement works.
